MASSAGE MONTGOMERY

Hot Stone Massage

a woman receiving a hot stone massage
A hot stone massage is just what it sounds like, a massage with hot stones placed on specific parts of your body. If you have ever wanted to know more about hot stone massages then contact Massage Montgomery Massage Therapy. The stones help to localize the area that needs relief from muscle strain or pain. It warms and relaxes the muscles, allowing for additional pressure to be applied without discomfort. Our massage therapists use a smooth rock that is known to retain the heat. The stones are placed in a professional stone heater and heated to a temperature of 110 to 130 F. The massage may seem somewhat familiar, as Swedish massage techniques are used in conjunction with the hot stones.

Advantages of a Hot Stone Massage
The heat from the stones relaxes the muscles, which allows us to penetrate the skin without using too much pressure. Many find that the hot stone massage provides them with a comfortable, deep level of relaxation. It is especially soothing to those who are prone to chills. Those who prefer the hot stone massage treatment have said that it helps them with their back pain, anxiety, insomnia, and depression. If you can use relief of any of these then we suggest that you try a hot stone massage.

 Does It Burn
You won’t have to worry about the stones burning you, as they are only heated to a temperature that will not cause burning. They are also only heated in a professional stone heater, which prevents them from burning the customer. If the stones are heated in a microwave or some other type of heater other than a stone heater, the stones may be too hot and uncomfortable. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect the stones to burn or hurt when they are applied.

What to Expect
Our massage therapist will put the stones on specific areas of your body based on where the muscle tension is located, such as along the spine, along the palms of your hand, on the legs, feet, or abdomen. Some smaller stones may even be placed between toes or the forehead. The stones may take a few minutes to penetrate the sheets. This allows the customer to discern if the stones are hotter than they would like for them to be. The therapists when then begin to use Swedish massage techniques while administering the full hot stone massage.
